Where did we come from?

Select Mortgage (does business as Verico Select Mortgage) began in 1998 when Pacific Coast Savings Insurance Services (now part of Coast Capital Savings) purchased Newmarket Insurance Services Ltd. in Nanaimo. In the same year, an agreement was reached to purchase Chemainus Insurance Services from Chemainus Credit Union. 

In October of 1998, Pacific Coast Savings Insurance Services purchased fifty percent of Victoria-based Essex and Kent, enabling the company to offer mortgage-brokering services to the Victoria area as well as our up-island locations under the name Pacific Express Mortgage Corporation. In 1999, the remaining fifty percent of PEMC was purchased and the name was changed to U-Select Financial and Insurance Services Ltd, and was operated as a subsidiary company of Pacific Coast Savings Credit Union. 

December 31, 2000 Pacific Coast Savings Credit Union and Richmond Savings merged to become Coast Capital Savings and U-Select remained a subsidiary company.

December 2004 became a specialized Mortgage Broker operating under the name U-Select Mortgage Services Ltd, eliminated other banking and insurance services from its operations.

In December 2005, Coast Capital Savings agreed to sell U-Select Mortgage Services to Geoff Parkin and Don Barr.

In February of 2006, U-Select annouced their partnership with Verico Mortgage Brokers Network and at the same time changed its name to Select Mortgage Corp doing business as Verico Select Mortgage.

Since the purchase from Coast Capital Savings, two new offices have been opened: Oak Bay in 2006 and Campbell River later that same year.  The number of Mortgage Brokers has continued to grow.
